A webzine about disability, accessibility, and advocacy in Nashville, Tennessee. Built from lived experience and decades of care work.
✶ Welcome to the Network
This is our corner of Nashville: the sidewalks we roll down, the clinics we navigate, the places that lift us up,
and the places that still shut us out.
The Nashville Disability Network is a zine style hub for disabled life in Music City,
made by two sisters who live it every day.
✶ What This Space Is
A DIY, modern zine for disabled Nashvillians, caregivers, allies, and anyone curious
about what accessibility actually looks like in this city.
Think of it as a community bulletin board mixed with lived experience, advocacy notes,
and the occasional rant about broken sidewalks and inaccessible systems.
We write about:
the good
the bad
the bureaucratic
the joyful
the exhausting
the hopeful
✶ Who We Are
Two sisters trying to build a life in Nashville while our bodies rewrite the rules.
Big Sis is currently homebound with her rare autoimmune disease, which is the kind that rearranges your days
whether you want it to or not. She leaves the house when she can, mostly for doctor appointments,
and the world outside is something she has to ration carefully.
Little Sis can still work, and she is the caretaker for both her disabled sister
and their aging mother. She is the one juggling schedules, meds, rides, paperwork,
and the emotional labor that never really ends.
✶ Newly Disabled?
A starting point for anyone who has just become disabled—whether suddenly, slowly, or somewhere in between.
We’ve gathered three resources that speak to different parts of the journey:
A Serious Guide for the Newly Disabled
A practical, grounded starting point. What to expect, what to track, and how to begin navigating systems
that weren’t built with you in mind.
How to Get On
A deeply researched, community-loved resource covering disability benefits, survival logistics, and the
realities of navigating bureaucracy while disabled. Not affiliated with NDD but highly recommended.
